New

I always use chocolate or vanilla buttercream to decorate all of my cakes. I had never used anything else to decorate them until, my aunt told me about a product called pastry pride. It’s a yummy tasting whip topping. All you do is thaw it in the refrigerator and whip it up. It’s already sweetened, and you don’t have to add any stabilizers to it. I still haven’t perfected using it but I wanted to share my first cake using this product. It’s not perfect but, it was my first time so, I’m not stressing.

Baby shower treats

My best friends baby shower was approaching, and I unfortunately was not going to be able to make it. But, that didn’t stop me from making her a little something. As I was walking around the isles of Joanns fabric store I came across these cute pretzel, and cookie molds. I thought,”Mh how hard can these be to use?” I read some comments online before testing them out since I had no experience with any type of pretzel or cookie mold. A lot of people wrote to mix a tad bit of vegetable shortening to Wilton’s candy melts to get a smoother consistency. So, I did just that and this is what happened.  What a hot mess I know! The chocolate cracked, and some pieces got stuck to the mold. I was feeling annoyed, upset, and discouraged. But, like my mom likes to say,”Hechando a perder es como se aprende.” Which translates to ruining things is how you learn.

For round two I decided to just melt the candy melts without adding anything to them, and guess what? It worked out so much better!       These molds were a lot of fun to work with once I got the hang of them. I highly recommend them.

*If you plan on making a big batch you should consider buying more than one mold. I only had one of each, and it was very time consuming to make them.

I’m backkkk

Hey everyone! I hope you guys are doing well. I know I’ve been gone for a very long time, and I will explain where I have been very soon I promise. In the past months I’ve been baking the usual cupcakes, cookies, and cakes but, nothing extraordinary.

Here are some frozen themed cupcakes that I made for my cousins birthday.  Here is a triple chocolate cake I made using Betty Crockers boxed cake mix. Excuse the lumps on the sides I didn’t mix my ganache thoroughly.  Cookies using this recipe  http://www.quakeroats.com/cooking-and-recipe/vanishing-oatmeal-raisin-cookies.aspx I omitted the raisins, and added chocolate chips on some, and vanilla icing on the other ones.    My bestfriends baby shower is coming up, and I’m in charge of the dessert table so, I will be posting everything that I made for her special day soon. Until then take care you guys!(:

Baking blues

November is right around the corner….literally it’s tomorrow, and Calfornia weather is still around the 90s. But, it’s California what can I really expect right? Anyways, this week I came to the realization that I was done waiting for the perfect weather to bake so, I baked a minion cake, and a heart shaped cake.

For the minion cake I did a frozen buttercream transfer of a minion. Basically all you do is place a piece of parchment paper over a coloring page image, and you begin to trace/fill it in with buttercream.

Here is a link to a fully detailed video of how to this technique.

I hope everyone is having a great Halloween! I’m staying in tonight because, I’m under the weather. My plans are to watch old school Disney channel movies lol. Bye you guys!(:

Not typical

My grandparents are flying into town to visit my family and I. So, I decided to make a cake. My grandpa has such a great a sense of humor so, I thought I would make him a chocolate cake, with chocolate buttercream, and topped with a girl wearing a bikini lol.

I had a few issues with my buttercream(what’s new) but, overall I liked how it came out.

Cupcakes

Lately I’ve been doing plenty of cupcake baking. We’ve been having 100 degree weather here so, cupcakes are more ideal for me to bake since they don’t require as much effort as a cake. Here are some Minnie themed cupcakes that I made for my nieces birthday. I found the Minnie decorations at my local dollar tree store.

Below are some cajeta filled cupcakes topped with a buttercream frosting

I loved the combination of the cajeta with Wilton’s recipe for buttercream frosting http://www.wilton.com/recipe/Buttercream-Icing For the filling I used store bought cajeta. My favorite brand is Coronado, you can find it at almost any grocery store.

Goodnight everyone!(:

Update

Due to my health issues I’ve had to put school and work on hold like I’ve mentioned in a few of my old blog posts. My social life has taken a tumble because, I don’t go out much. I USED to have so many “friends” back when I was in school but, now I only have 3. It’s sad to see all my old “friends” having fun without me or seeing people my age doing all these cool things that I can’t do. To be honest I feel a little depressed. I have been slacking on my blog posts, baking, my appearance, my workouts, and just about everything else due this sadness that I feel. I’ve been trying to shake off this feeling for a few days but, it’s hard you know? Starting the month of July I hope to have a more positive outlook on things. I know my health issues are a slow work in progress so, I know in due time everything will fall into place.  I came across these flowers the other day and they made my day seem a little less cloudy

I have been thinking about starting a YouTube channel that way I can connect on a more personal level with you guys. But, I’m not sure. Let me know what you guys think. Until the next blog post xoxo-Patricia

Baking update/new supplies

I haven’t baked anything new, which is why I haven’t created a baking blog post in a while. I have been looking at a few new recipes off of Pintrest(of course) which I do plan to share with you guys my recreation very soon. The only new thing I have to share are some dinosaur cupcakes that I recently made, as well as some new baking supplies that I’ve picked up. I simply piped the cupcakes with a Wilton 1M then, I placed a dinosaur gummy in the center. They’re pretty simple but, I like the contrast of the gummies with the frosting.

I stumbled upon Wilton’s Instagram and I saw that they were advertising this new product called treatology. I’m excited to use this to change up the flavor of my frostings.

This cupcake corer was on sale so, I decided to purchase it although a melon baller scooper works just as well.

I thought I would give this a try since I always frost my cakes smooth.

Birthday cake

I hadn’t decoarated a cake in a while so, when my moms friends son asked if I could make his birthday cake I was a bit hesitant. I ended up saying yes and he requested a chocolate Dodgers cake. Once I got home I began googling a few images of Dodgers cakes to get inspiration, and I finally decided on how I wanted the cake to look like.

I did a frozen buttercream transfer of a Dodgers shirt.

Then I added a border, pipped grass, imperfectly piped the bases(lol), and lastly I placed the fbt shirt. Here is the final result.

Have a goodnight everyone!(:
